Creating an developing a brand from scratch is always the most challenging and most enjoyable process for us. Barnum the Circus Musical was an extremely ambitious and equally successful production that combined musical theatre with the world of circus.
We had an unknown product, yet who’s name synonymous with a recent blockbuster film. We needed to create a brand that drew inspiration from the film’s success, yet at the same time always presented as a brand-new, never before seen product.
We wanted the key artwork to instantly transport audiences to another time. Not only the right stylistic choice, but we also knew there was a gap in the market for this type of image. Our hero artwork was an invitation to step inside the magical and intriguing world of Barnum and his circus. The artwork needed to be decadent, lavish and always with a level of mystery, as the musical uncovers not only Barnum’s past, but also that of the characters in his life that built his story. This was then the driving force of our brand.
The key advantage of being booth the creative director on a photo shoot and the designer ensures the vision and voice is never lost in translation. Our hero artwork when launched was one of the most talked about theatre brands in market at the time. The campaign that followed unveiled each member of Barnum’s world one bye one, before introducing them all into our hero artwork that launched around the production’s premiere.
